Seen out of the corner of my eye while watching Kare Kano...

Steps

Hooray!  The beagle finally figured out how to use the steps we put up for him to get onto the couch.  It's amusing in a way because I used to live in a 2-story apartment and he would run up and down the staircase all day long.  But give him a 3-step version to get on the couch and he just stared at it confused.  Silly dog.

Simoun

I started watching this one back when it was still being broadcast, but stopped right before the last episode because I couldn't really bear to see it come to an end.  I finally got back to it this morning and I've gotta say it was a surprisingly satisfying ending to the series.  All the girls wound up with decent lives after the spring, and Aeru and Neveril's transformation into Tempus Spatium neatly fulfilled the prophecies and provided a little extra circularity to this tale.  A lot of things are left unexplained, but left more intrigued than angered.  I would love to see another season of this, possibly told from the Plumbish side of things.

Some speculations on the series...

Moetan

After watching Episode 2 I gotta say I'm just not Japanese enough to appreciate this.  Our heroine is one of those 17-looks-like-8 creatures of Japanese male fantasy, and the magical transformation sequence is way too long and way too naked, and the male characters get way too aroused.  There may not be any explicit stuff in those sequences, but it's pretty clear the artists and the intended audience consider this a defect and not a feature.  blech.

Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei

Finally watched episode 2 tonight.  Sensei continues trying to appear to be attempting to kill himself.  He gains a bevy of stalkerettes with varying levels of comedic effect.  Favorite moment: The "travel-size suicide kit" with the Enya Greatest Hits CD.

Feather day

Rooney small style 1 brush
Penhaligon's Blenheim Bouquet soap
Feather Artist Club
Super Pro blade
Purell Hand Sanitizer

I've been on a Feather kick all week, though I've switched back to my beloved Rooney brush and BB soap.  Purell Hand Sanitizer makes a dandy aftershave if you don't want any lingering scent.

Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei

aka "Goodbye Teacher Despair".  The teacher is an emo (his first appearance is when he drops down into the scene on the end of a noose).  The student is a pollyanna (she thinks he's trying to become taller, like her dad did those five times).  She insists on calling him "Pink Supervisor" and even ponies up 50 yen to purchase his naming rights.

Things get sillier from there.  Both of them live in fantasy worlds that come in constant conflict to great comic effect, but the density of background gags are the real reason to rewatch this series.  For example very time the blackboard appears in the background in the classroom there is a different bizarre inscription written on it, sometimes it changes in mere seconds and continuity be damned.

Feather day

Burma-Shave boar brush
Williams Mug Soap
Feather Artist Club razor
Super Professional blade
Pinaud Clubman aftershave

Very good shave.  Unfortunately the blades in the feather are incredibly sharp and fairly harsh and beat my face up a bit.  I can shave with it every few days but if I try to use it more frequently than that my face starts rebelling.  The Williams Mug Soap and Burma-Shave brush are from the local Wal-Mart.  $1 for the soap and $8 for the brush.  The soap will last about 6 months and the brush will last a decade or longer, assuming the dog doesn't try to eat it.

You've chaaanged maaan!

I went to the local Apple store yesterday to buy a Macbook Pro.  Unfortunately, the staff was too busy trying to sell $600 iPhones to bother with the $2500 Macbook Pro's.  Guess that's why they dropped the "Computer" from their name.
